UAE-based Indian artists create endearing portraits of Mahatma Gandhi to celebrate his 151st birth anniversary
On the eve of Gandhi’s 151st birthday, the Consulate General India tweeted an abstract painting created by Dubai-based Sijin Gopinathan, 32, creative designer at Idealz . “Dubai based artist Sijin Gopinathan paid his soulful tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 151st birth anniversary by making a beautiful abstract painting of Bapu and gifted to the Consulate,” the Consulate General of India, Dubai tweeted on Thursday.
The 120x100cm acrylic painting was the second artwork donated he donated to the consulate. “Last year, on the occasion of Bapu’s 150th birth anniversary, I did a doodle art and it was officially used by the Indian Consulate for the Gandhi Jayanti event held at Zabeel Park in Dubai,” Sijin told Gulf News.Sijin believes art, like Gandhian principles, is both liberating and endearing. He said: “I’m a follower of Mahatma ji and his message is very much relevant for our current generation and present situation. To quote him, ‘I offer you peace. I offer you love. I offer you friendship. I see your beauty. I hear your need. I feel your feelings. My wisdom flows from the Highest Source. I salute that Source in you. Let us work together for unity and love.”
